With the official start of the BMFTR-funded project period, Goodly Technologies and the Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry at LMU University Hospital Munich (Klinikum der Universität München — Augenklinik und Poliklinik) formally begin joint development of the SeeCure diagnostic system.

A Partner at the Forefront of Ophthalmic Research

The LMU Eye Clinic is among the most research-intensive ophthalmology departments in Europe, with deep expertise in retinal diseases, glaucoma, and digital diagnostic tools. Clinical oversight of the SeeCure project is provided by Dr. Maximilian-Joachim Gerhardt, ophthalmologist and senior physician at the department.

Dr. Gerhardt brings clinical depth in inherited retinal diseases and functional vision assessment — areas directly relevant to the diagnostic targets of SeeCure.

What the Partnership Means in Practice

Clinical validation is not a checkbox — it is the foundation of trustworthy medical technology. Our collaboration with LMU means that the algorithms underpinning SeeCure are trained and tested against real clinical data, under the supervision of practicing ophthalmologists and a dedicated team, in a setting where diagnostic accuracy has direct patient consequences.

The project will conduct studies in the clinic, nursing home environments, measuring system performance against established clinical gold standards. Results will inform iterative improvements to the AI model and the user experience.

The Broader Vision

Academic-industry partnerships of this kind are how credible medical technology gets built. We are not building a consumer gadget — we are building a low barrier clinical instrument designed to function reliably in the real-world conditions of long-term care. The LMU partnership is the mechanism that ensures we do exactly that.
